Unless you’re racing, use thorn proof tubes (my fav) or slime filled tubes. The extra weight is a small price to pay in exchange for rarely having to change a flat tire. If you can’t muster the strength to deal with a few extra grams of inner tube weight (wimp), and you find a goat head stuck in your tire - don’t pull it out. Leave it be if it’s in a mtb tire, or break it off if it’s in a road tire. If you’re lucky, the thorn part of the goat head will plug the hole and keep you rolling a little while longer.
